What is the difference between infrared touch screen and capacitive touch screen?

The principles of Capacitive Touch Screen and Itouch screen are different.The principle of capacitive touch screen is to use principle of electromagnetic induction to sense the capacitor on the touch board and confirm user’s touch by detecting the voltage change.However, the principle of the infrared touch overlay is to use principle of infrared reflection to detect user’s touch by installing infrared transmitter and receiver on touch the four corners of the panel.

Because of different principles,the application scenario of capacitive touch screen and infrared touch overlay is different.The capacitive touch screen is often used in handheld devices such as tablets, mobile phones, and touch screens, because it can sense the electric field changes of the fingers and make the touch experience more accurate.However ir touch screen is used in big screen display and projectors and others scenarios that need use remote control and large area operation.Because it does not need touch screen,it is suitable for wearing gloves or pulled environmental.

The capacitive touch’s responds speed is lower than infrared touch ,because it need to detect electric field changes.But as continuous development of capacitive touch technology,its responds speed and accuracy are also improving .It has get level with infrared touch.
Fourthly,different precision.
The capacitive touch’s precision is higher than infrared touch.The capacitive touch can sense electric field of finger,its precision is very higher.Especially true for multi-touch.But infrared touch’s precision is lower than capacitive touch ,because of its principle.
In addition,capacitive touch and infrared touch have their own characteristics and their application scenarios are different.You need to choose according to the actual situation, when choosing specific touch technology.
