Working Principle:

Capacitive touch foil

1. It used capacitive changes between human body and the electrode to detect touch operation.When finger touch the touch foil’s surface,it will change capacitive value at the touch point.The capacitive sensor array in touch foil film can fell this capacitive change and convert it into electrical signal.

2. For example:in some capacitive touch foil electrodes made of transparent conductive materials such as indium tin oxide -ITO are distributed on the film in a specific pattern.These electrode in a kind of capacitance equilibrium state when they aren’t touch.When it has touch operation,capacitive coupling of touch points change and thus is defected.

Resistive touch foil

1. Based on principle of pressure sensing,the touch foil consists of two conductive layers (usually in film form) separated by air gaps or insulating spots.When an external force is applied to the surface of touch foil film, the upper and lower conductive layers connect at the touch points,which changes resistance value.

Structural features:

1. Thin.The touch foil film often has very thin structure, which allows it to be easily integrated in all kinds of devices without significantly increase devices’ volume and weight.

2. Flexibility.It has good flexibility,which can adapt to different shape and curved surface.This make it widely used in some special shape products.

Application area:

1.  Consumer electronic devices

Like smart phone and tablet PC,it relay on touch foil technology to realize screen touch interaction such as click,slide,zoom and so on.Smart watch screen adopts touch foil technology, which can accurately sense touch to make it easy to view notifications, toggle functions, etc.

2.Smart home area:

Some smart home control panel use touch foil to achieve touch sense.

3. Commercial display and interactive devices

With help of the touch foil,large digital signs in shopping malls and airports become interactive information query terminals, which can query store location,flight information and so on.The touch foil film in the interactive electronic whiteboard in the meeting room can realize function of writing,erasing,annotation and so on,which is convenient for demonstration and communication.
